Mobitel is empowered by Openmind Networks to deliver up to 2000 SMS per second.

13 February 2006

Openmind Networks today announced that it has deployed its SMS Intelligent Load Optimiser (SILO) and its SMS Direct Deliver Router (DDR) at Mobitel, Bulgaria’s leading mobile operator. The new system enables the mobile operator to deal with higher volumes of SMS traffic more efficiently and cost effectively.

M-tel subscribers are the first in Bulgaria to benefit from this new, direct delivery technology that will handle extreme traffic peaks of up to 2000 SMS messages per second in real-time. This enables Mobiltel to provide a high quality of service to all its SMS customers, all of the time.

Openmind Networks SMS DDR provides first-time delivery of SMS without having to resort to the SMSC and this provides improved network performance in a more cost effective manner. The SILO product manages the network during high surges of traffic and prevents the overload of the existing network to maintain quality of service and customer satisfaction. The new messaging system also provides Mobiltel with a flexible, scalable solution that is developed to handle its growing demand in SMS traffic without ongoing upgrades to its core messaging network.

Martin Lippautz, Senior Marketing Director, Mobiltel, said: "It is natural that Mobiltel - a market and innovative leader in the field of telecommunications is the first to introduce this direct delivery technology into Bulgaria. Thanks to this solution the operator adds additional value to its services and follows its mission to offer the best telecom offerings in the market. Mobiltel will continue to work with Openmind Networks to maintain competitive advantage and to offer more ground breaking services to its customers in the future."

Alex Duncan, Chief Executive Officer at Openmind Networks, commented: "The SMS DDR is a truly future-proof product that protects the operators' initial investment by allowing unlimited expansion for future growth in traffic. Mobiltel can relax in the knowledge that the system comfortably meets its existing SMS requirements and can easily be expanded for all future business requirements."
