Press Releases Optical Metrology Innovations to Present Joint Technical Paper at the IMAPS Conference on Sept 27 - 29. Cork, Ireland, September 26, 2005 OMI today announced it will be presenting two technical papers at the 38th IMAPS Symposium on Microelectronics in the Pennsylvania Convention Centre later this month. As part of the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS) 2005 agenda OMI is presenting one paper on Digital Image Correlation metrology of semiconductor packaging on September 28th and a second, joint paper with Intel Corporation, on September 29th. In the joint paper the authors present a systematic study of the Digital Image Correlation Technique through a one to one comparison with Moiré Interferometry. A comprehensive set of measurements were carried out on a variety of flip chip and stacked die devices using both metrology techniques. This paper will present the detailed results of these measurements. Optical Metrology Innovations OMISTRAIN ETR® (now renamed Equinox ETR®) product is a thermal deformation metrology system and is based on Digital Image Correlation Technology. The operating temperature range is -65oC to +350oC. The operating range enables measurements to be made at the higher reflow temperatures as required by lead free packaging. The system allows designers to measure inplane deformation and warpage of semiconductor packages at temperatures not achievable with current industry solutions. About Optical Metrology Innovations: Optical Metrology Innovations is a leading innovator in the metrology for strained silicon, compound semiconductors and advanced semiconductor packaging. Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, OMI manufacturers the Solstice® range of Photoreflectance Spectrometers for front end silicon and compound semiconductor metrology and its Equinox ETR® product range for the packaging sector.
