Atlantic Bridge has a disciplined, pragmatic and active investment process, designed to rapidly identify and evaluate suitable opportunities, and carefully mentor and monitor any investments made through to effecting an exit strategy. A Staff Meeting is held every week to discuss potential opportunities, ongoing investment processes and updates on portfolio companies. A typical investment process is as follows:
Deal Flow
Potential deals are actively sought out, on a sector-driven or thematic basis, through personal networks and relationships. Suitable opportunities are presented to the Staff Meeting for discussions through Prospect Introduction Memos. If we agree to follow up, a team member with appropriate expertise will be assigned as the Principal for the prospect.
Due Diligence
If the prospect is promising, a due diligence program will be discussed and agreed. The Principal will co-ordinate with domain experts to carry out a deep review, as well as conduct preliminary financial, business & legal due diligence. The results will be presented at a Staff Meeting so that a decision can be made whether to offer a term sheet and, if so, what the key terms should be.
Approval Process
If we offer a term sheet and it is accepted, then the team moves on to more detailed, comprehensive due diligence. This will cover all aspects of the business, including the operational and exit strategies, and usually take place over a period of 4-6 weeks. The results are documented and brought back to an Investment Committee (primarily the General Partners but also other partners and professionals in the firm) for a final decision on the opportunity. For an investment to be made, it must receive unanimous approval from the General Partners.
Closing
If unanimous approval is given, the team then completes the investment process by finalising relevant legal and financial documentation, including any tax or structuring arrangements. Each investment process typically takes 2-3 months to go from the being introduced as a prospect to the closing of the investment.
Portfolio Management
After closing, Atlantic Bridge actively engages the management though our representatives on the Board of Directors. Relevant team members monitor and mentor the business through a combination of scheduled Board of Director meetings and ongoing operational/ strategic reviews. Updates of any developments are provided at weekly Staff Meetings and the entire team work together to actively manage the agreed operational and exit strategies.
